The Grantley Adam International Airport (GAIA) Project (BARBADOS)
API was appointed to supply the PMA product used for the historic repaving of the airport runways at
Barbados’ Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA); the first time in Barbados and in the region that
PMA has been utilized to enhance any national infrastructural network.
Our investments in additional testing equipment and capabilities meant we were able to effectively
manufacture and supply the distinct performance enhancing ingredients of PMA to Canadian
construction company Dexter Construction Company Limited to use when upgrading the island’s airport
runways, as well as test the product in such a way as to add significantly increased elasticity, shock
absorption, and overall longevity to the GAIA landing strips.
For the duration of this innovative year-long project, a Lab technician was flown in from the USA to lend
extra expertise to the local team, while all PMA airport runway samples were additionally sent back to
the USA in a unique ‘double-testing’ process; ensuring the product was in full compliance with all
current international quality control standards.
